Dutta lab identified the mechanisms controlling myelopoiesis by bone marrow endothelial cells
Dutta lab, in collaboration with Nahrendorf lab at Harvard Medical School, has shown in a recent issue of Circulation that epidermal growth factor receptor is important in suppressing myelopoiesis in diabetes. In absence of this receptor, hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells proliferate vigorously and differentiate into inflammatory myeloid cells.
