Dutta lab, in collaboration with Chan lab, found that blood monocytes in pulmonary hypertension express high levels of chemokine receptors, which are responsible for monocyte mobilization into the perivascular space of the lungs. Once infiltrated into the lungs, these monocytes differentiate into inflammatory macrophages and exacerbate lung remodeling.
